Before the ATI module was included in the kernel, I use the ATI driver with complete success, but got that warning when starting a 3d program. Since my 9200 is supported natively now, I don't have to deal with it. Most all, if not all of the 9xxx ATI cards should be supported and work fine, without going to additional trouble. But should you install the ATI drivers from their site or SuSE's, you cannot use sax2 or the normal setup items as that will just kill everything you tried to do.
