Look in /usr/src/linux/Documentation/devices.txt for what char-major-180 etc. mean. It's the USB devices. If you have a USB printer, this explains the cups failure. After the power went out, and my UPS died, I have had some problems. One, CUPS died. I fixed it by reinstalling, as the cupsd wouldn't work right, and just ran my CPU useage to 100% when trying to queue a print job. (Just telling you so you see I have fixed something myself, be it the cheaters way out). But two other problems:
1. I found in the xconsole that runs in KDE the following: modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module char-major-180 I am not sure what this means. Anybody able to assist?
2. Also, what controls how often fsck runs on startup? Also, is this used on ext3?
