What does "scanimage -L" output?
Here it currently outputs device `brother4:bus2;dev1' is a Brother ADS-2100e USB scanner I then use the part between ` and ' as the parameter for --device for scanimage.
The command scanimage -L hangs. I just get a black square on the next line. (The display is black letters on white background.) It needs ctrl-c to clear. How long did you wait? Give it at least three minutes.
make sure to drop your firewall first.
OK. Stopped firewall. Ran command. Printer made a small noise. Waited probably 3 minutes. Got result: linux1:~ # systemctl disable firewalld Removed /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/firewalld.service. Removed /etc/systemd/system/dbus-org.fedoraproject.FirewallD1.service. linux1:~ # systemctl stop firewalld linux1:~ # scanimage -L device `epson2:net:192.168.0.26' is a Epson PID 087D flatbed scanner
I will turn the firewall back on now. I hope that folks who ask for a response like this give me the necessary information, like you just did.
Ok, so you know that the sofware works and it finds the scanner. What you have to do now is configure the firewall to give access to the scanner, that is, to open certain ports. However, I don't have this kind of hardware, I have no idea what ports you have to open. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from oS Leap 15.2 x86_64 (Minas Tirith))
