Geez, I've never been able to get sound to work (but I've got a crappy opti931) Perhaps i should give up linux all together? (yeah right:) harry
No! Crappy Opti sound card owners don't give up! I got my (POS) Opti930 working beautifully. As far as I can tell you can not _fully_ isapnp-configure the Opti93x cards so use the default configuration - no isapnp. This is how I configured my kernel: Sound card support: m Generic OPL2/OPL3 FM synthesizer support: y Support MAD16 and/or Mozart based boards: y /dev/dsp/ and /dev/audio support: y MIDI interface support: y FM synthesizer support: y MAD16 audio I/O base 530, 604, E80 or F40: 530 MAD16 audio IRQ 7,9,10, or 11: 11 MAD16 audio DMA 0,1 or 3: 3 MAD16 second (duplex) DMA 0,1 or 3: 0 MAD16 MIDI I/O base 300,310,320, or 330: 330 MAD16 MIDI IRQ 5,7,9 or 10: 9 Audio DMA buffer size: 65536 I don't know if these same settings will work for the 931, but they work for the 930, and I would bet the 928-929 also. Also take a look at: <A HREF="http://www.sequel.demon.co.uk/opti.html"><A HREF="http://www.sequel.demon.co.uk/opti.html</A">http://www.sequel.demon.co.uk/opti.html</A</A>> for more info Note: if you warm-boot Linux after running a Mickeysoft OS, your Opti card will most likely not function. Throw the switch and cold boot to get that Opti piece-o-crap re-set to default configuration. Good luck. - Ben - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
