What is the typical size of the /usr/lib/sysimage/rpm/Packages file? (aka /var/lib/rpm/Packages)
Mine is big:
- -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1.3G Mar 13 04:47 Packages
I wonder if it is too big.
I should have posted the number of packages:
Telcontar:~ # rpm -qa | wc -l 11026 Telcontar:~ #
# rpm -qa | wc -l 1254
# ls -gG /usr/lib/sysimage/rpm/Packages -rw-r--r-- 1 88420352 Mar 18 09:11 /usr/lib/sysimage/rpm/Packages # ls -gGh /usr/lib/sysimage/rpm/Packages -rw-r--r-- 1 85M Mar 18 09:11 /usr/lib/sysimage/rpm/Packages
Are you running the current *55.52.1 kernel? Are you mostly a zypper user, mostly yast user, or mostly mixed, for package management? I rarely use yast for software except during OS installations.
Kernel doesn't affect the package database, it matters only the number of packages, and possibly "holes" in the database, which is what worries me.
It shouldn't, but bugs can make logs very noisy. -- Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion, based on faith, not based on science. Team OS/2 ** Reg. Linux User #211409 ** a11y rocks! Felix Miata
