as someone who just did his very first suse 9 personal edition install, i have two issues.
first, this system is a standard dell with an intel 865 (i810) video card, and dell E772p monitor that absolutely refuses to support a fairly standard 1024x768 at 16 colors. i can get 640x480 at 16 colors, or 1024x768 at 8 colors (which looks horrible with smudges all over the screen).
i find it hard to believe that a fairly new system would be incapable of supporting a basic 1024x768 at 16 colors. has anyone else set up a system with this combination of video card/monitor? (i've already gone into the BIOS and given 8M to video, so that's not an apparent problem.)
Hoi Robert, boot in the BIOS: under Integrated Devices -> OnBoard Video Buffer, change the setting from 1M to 8M or higher if possible. That's all. Franky
