Further to my last problem report, I used the command "lprm -Qlp -" to remove all jobs. I then rebooted with a dos disk and tested printing using EPP printing mode in the bios. Worked beautifully, no problems whatsoever. That proves the printer works with the cable, and the box, and that the problem seems to be in linux. So, booting back into linux, I signed in as root and executed the following commands and got the following output. machine:/var/spool # lpr /etc/hosts.allow lpr: connect: Connection refused jobs queued, but cannot start daemon. machine:/var/spool # lpq waiting for lp to become ready (offline ?) Rank Owner Job Files Total Size 1st root 4 /etc/hosts.allow 272 bytes Theory: The SuSEfirewall 2.1 package is preventing connections/starting the daemon? -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
