Can anyone else confirm this behavior? To confirm it, you would have to have added favorites to the save dialog. I use them religiously, others may not, but surely there is at least one other that utilizes this functionality in FF?
I don't understand your question. My save file as, in FF, looks similar to yours. But what is a favourite? You mean the third section of the left hand panel, that lists a group of directories that you have defined as favourite places? That's a gnome feature, not FF. I add them usually via Nautilus.
What is it you are trying to do and fails, add a new folder to the favourites list, or add a file to one of those favourites?

Sorry Carlos, Yes, I mean the left hand panel titled "Places". I guess I had favorites stuck in my mind from talking about it on the FF list some time ago when the 2.x-3.x dialog mess took place to begin with. The entries in "Places" are disappearing (they're still there, they're just invisible) until you try and re-add them which prompts the error shown in my original post that they "already exist". That's what I should have said to begin with ;-p -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
