Hi,
I just updated two machines to 42.3 using zypper dup...

Machine 1: Laptop, Geforce 840M, Bumblebee (nvidia optimus), several games won't work through "optirun <name>" or "primusrun <name>" anymore, no error messages whatsoever, the games just don't start, or start and exit without errors. Also, can't start games from within steam for linux anymore.
Machine 2: Desktop, dualscreen setup, Geforce GTX 760 Ti, nividia driver rpm from nvidia repo through zypper, screen flickers as if "the cable is loose"
Neither of the two had any problems like that with 42.2, and neither produces any meaningful error messages anywhere.
Any ideas?
First point: are you trying to start those games from widgest on the (bottom) panel or from the 'Start'>Games menu? If so then replace the widgets in the (bottom) panel with the ones from the Games menu because any changes made in the Start>Games (or any other other app in the Start>x menus) do not automatically get transferred to the widgets in the panel. Delete the widgets in the panel and replace them from the Start>Games menu.
Second point: I got the same as you on at least a couple of occasions and the way out is to rebuild the nVidia driver.

ok let's separate this out. on machine 2 the flickering seems to be a plasma5 thing, it happens when I for example hit ctrl-r in akgregator to mark a feed as read. I'll deal with that later. on machine 1 the steam issue is because of the libgcrypt update that came out recently, there's a shell variable one can set for a workaround: $STEAM_RUNTIME_PREFER_HOST_LIBRARIES=1 makes steam always use its bundled libs. The openGL issues all boil down to primusrun not working right... optirun does, but sadly optirun does not work for steam games 0.o Cheers MH -- gpg key fingerprint: 5F64 4C92 9B77 DE37 D184 C5F9 B013 44E7 27BD 763C
