Just re-installed a machine --- MySQL problem

Hi, I just backed up my 7.3 SuSE and re-installed 8.0, So far I could get all major things running except MySQL, whereby it is running, but the database is not used via the web. I copied from the old installation the tree /var/lib/mysql to the new system. What have I forgotten to copy as well, and in case I don't have it how can I fix it.
