Well I too had problems using Yast to do this job... I doesn't seem that it can be used to set up remote printers (despite it saying it can I think) Here is a sample from my /etc/printcap which may help. Note this is on a RedHat 4.2 machine # /etc/printcap # # Please don't edit this file directly unless you know what you are doing! # Be warned that the control-panel printtool requires a very strict format! # Look at the printcap(5) man page for more info. # # This file can be edited with the printtool in the control-panel. ##PRINTTOOL3## REMOTE POSTSCRIPT 300x300 a4 {} PostScript Default {} lp|PostScript:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\ :mx#0:\ :sh:\ :rm=aphex:\ :rp=printer_140:\ :if=/var/spool/lpd/lp/filter: ##PRINTTOOL3## REMOTE POSTSCRIPT 300x300 a4 {} PostScript Default {} colour:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/colour:\ :mx#0:\ :sh:\ :rm=aphex:\ :rp=colour:\ :if=/var/spool/lpd/colour/filter: Note the machine hosting the printer queues is called aphex. ---------------------------------- E-Mail: Peter Onion <ponion@srd.bt.co.uk> Date: 10-Sep-98 Time: 14:24:10 This message was sent by XFMail ---------------------------------- - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
