Mgetty - Permission denied on .bash_profile

Greetings Could someone please assist here, When I login via ssh or directly on the PC as chadley it is fine, but when I login with mgetty I get this error, anyone know why? ns login: chadley Password: You have new mail in /var/mail/chadley.
