I am trying to install opensuse 11 beta3 on an older PC, dell dimension 4400 with a 40gig drive and 128meg ram. This has happened a few times but when it goes to delete the existing partitions and make the new ones i specified, i always get "failure occurred during following action" deleting partition /dev/sda1
That ram is probably insuficient. You need a swap partition, created before you run the install; ie, probably you can not create it using the current suse install disk, but with something else (there are specialized rescue distros around, for instance). Later, I think you have to activate that swap partition manually if it is not dtected and used automatically. I think the procedure is explained in the wiki somewhere, and also has been explained in this list, you can search the archive. Someone else might know the exact link. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
