I am interested in getting RoadRunner for my internet access. I would like some of the pro's and cons folks have run into getting this up and running. I use SuSe 5.3 with KDE on a linux only box. AMD K-6-233 with 96MB ram. The system is running fine. I would like to get the single IP package they offer and pipe it into my linux box. From there I want to hook my other 3 win95/98 machines my family uses on a little home-LAN setup I have. The LAN is working fine right now. I am aware of the IP-Masq/Firewalling stuff that would be needed to accomplish this and I am currently experimenting with a demand dial up access to earthlink right now. I just don't have the cable modem/RoadRunner service info. Another question I have is: I have an old AMD 486-100 box with a 1.6GB drive and 8MB ram. Would I get the same performance if i dedicated this as a second linux box to the roadrunner service as the ip-masq/firewall box and ran my other 4 machines off of it, or should i just stick to my current linux box? My current linux box does nothing more that office stuff and internet. Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
