Apart from that it's broken on 7.0, iBCS is used to run non-Linux binaries (e.g. SCO Unix) on Linux. IIRC, iBCS means "Intel binary compatibility standard". This was nice in former times - people were actually running Oracle (or was it Informix?) for SCO on Linux way before there was a Linux port.
