Under OpenSuSE 10.3/KDE 3 the multimedia files would simply get open in whatever application is specified in the Konqueror as default, and executables such as scripts would simply be executed. Now under OpenSuSE 11.1/KDE4/OpenOffice 3 what I get is that the multimedia files (at least .mov) get open in Konqueror (as opposed to Mplayer specified as default) and scirpts would get open in atext editor as opposed to being directly invoked as executables. Has anyone encountered this problem? Has anyone resolved it?
Here's a little addendum to the above: the distinction appears to be between KDE3 and KDE4: whereas under the former the links from the ODP file open as expected by their assigned applications under KDE4 they get channeled to Konqueror and stuck there.
Beyond this, I am still clueless as to the reason for this mess, hence any help would be much appreciated.
Boris.
Check "File Associations" KDE3: Personal Settings > KDE Components
I have mess there that is fixed as I find a problem.
For instance Cervisia is listed for any media. News (USENET) nothing, but there is KNode. html Konqueror3, 2 editors, opera, konq4, firefox
The last one is fixed, editors last.
Rajko,
It's not under KDE3, it's under KDE4 that I have the problem.
