Hmmm. I wonder if it would not hurt for some of us to take another look at: https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Guiding_principles That said, IMHO (if anyone cares), I agree with the sentiment that BTRFS is not ready for the Normal (average and less) home user. Therefore, I really think the Leap installer should offer -- for now -- ext4 as the default file system, with BTRFS as a visible option. But, of course, BTRFS should *not* be dropped, should ship as part of the system as an option. I see it as the file system of the future with great potential. That is for Leap. For Tumbleweed, I think the default *should* be BTRFS. After all, (in my view) Tumbleweed is the bleeding edge and is often used as a testing ground so the wrinkles can be ironed out before things move to Leap. It is my understanding that Tumbleweed users should expect some glitches now and then, and should participate in testing and reporting, if not patching and developing. Of course, ext4 should still be offered as an option in Tumbleweed, for those who must use Tumbleweed because of problems with some new hardware or proprietary drivers. IMHO.
