Hi Ren Informix SE (Standard Engine) comes with SuSE. However, Informix also have available for download Informix Online V7.30 (Dynamic Server), together with a $99 license. I have installed Online V7.30 successfully on a P166 with 48MB RAM, with one internal IDE disk and 7 external SCSI disks. We loaded a subset of our database (currently running on Alpha) onto the machine, and it works a treat. We just redirected the client application to the Linux machine and bingo! Performance was really good and comparable with our main server (although only one user was connected, you would probably get similar performce for 12 or so users). HTH, Mike.

I have a need for a testing machine at work. Thinking that my copy of SuSE 6.0 would be a great candidate for such a task, I wondered how the informix application was on it. I am not an informix guru although I hope that I can set it up and use it for testing without touching our live data. Anyone had any experience with informix on SuSE 6.0? Does it actually come on the CD's? Any help/advice would appreciated.
