Mike, Just to make sure, you might also want to mv your .kde2 directory in your home directory after upgrading to kde2.1.1. And yeah, definitely mv those three kde directories in your /tmp directory to something else. I think they were, ksocket-<username> mcop-<username> kde-<username> KDE2 will create new ones. Let us know how it goes... CD. --- Cleary_Mike@emc.com wrote:
Just an FYI ........
I recently did a fresh install of 7.1, and last night I upgraded kde from 2.01 to 2.1.0 - 1x, which was the last version on the suse ftp site right before they put out 2.1.1. I got the same dcopserver error. dcopserver is in /opt/kde2/bin and when I tried to run it, I got an error saying that it was aborted because $DISPLAY was not set.
I downgraded kde to 2.1.0 - 0x (version that was on the ftp site around the first of March) and the problem went away. I'll try upgrading from 2.1.0 - 0x to 2.1.0 - 1x & see what happens. I'll look at the tmp directory before & after the upgrade and if I get the error again, I'll try removing the stuff from tmp.

I deleted those directories and kde2 loads up now.
Was KDE 2.1 loading okay before you upgraded to 2.1.1? If so this might be
the same problem I am having. If this is the case, I'll have to try your tip and see if it fixes my problem.
Thanks, Tim
