Never use pre-compiled bins if you can help it. I installed the latest lesstif on my box from source just a few nights ago, which installs to /usr/local/*, so all I had to do was run ldconfig and I was in business. Alan Riggins wrote:
I too am interested in lesstif. I was able to find lesstif on the web:
ww.lesstif.org
I downloaded the package and followed the directions, but alas I can't compile anything. It is installed in /usr/lesstif-current. I ran config, make, changed the file /etc/ld.so.conf and added /usr/lesstif-current/lib, then ran ldconfig -v.
Attempting to compile with gcc results in *.h files not found.
If someone has been successful in getting this setup with SuSE5.2, I sure would appreciate the help. (The code I'm trying to compile works fine on a Sun Solaris system at school, but access via modem in graphics mode is somewhat slow).
