If you haven't already, visit: <A HREF="http://bahamut.mm.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp/~iwai/midi.html"><A HREF="http://bahamut.mm.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp/~iwai/midi.html</A">http://bahamut.mm.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp/~iwai/midi.html</A</A>> There you will find utilities to initialize the soundfont banks, soundfonts and drivers which most likely are not needed anymore. The utilities, however, seem to be, if you want to use the AWE32/64 onboard WaveTable (and who doesn't)? You need to load a soundfont for it to work, as far as I can tell. Get sfxload and e.g. chaos8mb if you have 8MB or more on your board. Otherwise load, say, synthgm.sbk/sf2 from your windows CD and see what happens....
Been there tried that. I did grab the synthgm.sbk from my SB cd. It loaded with no errors.(return to prompt) then I go find a MIDI player..None of them work. I download midiplay playmidi and it still don't work. Only thing that is giving me midi is Timidity tho thats not really midi playing tho. Anyways still waiting for my SuSE 5.3 disks to get here..been a subscriber from 5.0....Its 3 weeks late now. I am one state away. This is getting me upset. (it wouldn't be so bad if I didn't get rid of my older copys of SuSE to all my friends) (also I have put in a brand spanken new SCSI HD for Linux itself) (waiting is a nightmare) Steve Udell hettar@teleport.com - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
