Can anyone vouch for the ease-of-use factor with these cards? I've seen them for $60 US and under, and was wondering if they were worth the investment. Those of you paying close attention may have noticed that I started out with a Voodoo Banshee by Creative Labs and I have since moved back to an SiS6326 card I had laying around. The SiS is still fairly cranky, compared to my ol' reliable S3 ViRGE DX card, and I wonder if the Permedia is any more or less cranky.
I have Suse 5.3 running with an AccelGraphics Permedia 2 card. It works quite well at 32bit color depth, but I have had problems with it at lesser depths. This is in a Gateway PII-300 system that came with an AccelGraphics card well before they were supported by XFree. I like it well enough that I just bought another AccelGraphics Permedia 2 card from CompGeeks for $40 - a great price. Unfortunately when I tried it out tonight in my home system it wouldn't even boot (one long, three short beeps). I haven't used this motherboard with an AGP card before, so the motherboard may be the problem.
