Good day Jim,
How do I tell SuSE that my screen is 12 inch? It seems to default to 15". When I connect my 12" all I get on the screen is green and white lines. The boot screen shows fine. I guess I need to give a command at the boot screen, but what? I'm running 8.1.
I do not think that your screen's physical size has anything to say.
I'm sorry, I didn't make myself understood. I do use X at all on this system. After the boot screen (which works) I get only green & white lines. When I switch to another screen there is only a white line at the top where the log in should be.
Have you tried to give the boot parameter: vga=normal ?
