Thanks for the info. But, we already have a bootp server in the network (maintained by the university). All I need is to configure the machines in my lab with bootp. Any ideas?

You also need another machine on your subnet that is a bootp server for your machine to get it's IP address at boot time. A better/elegant approach is to use DHCP. It provisions more parameters than bootp does. SuSE includes DHCP client but am not sure if the DHCP server is also included.
