I read that from alt.os.linux:
WP8 Install Tips and FAQ For Piecemeal Download --------------------------------------- A lousy install by corel but an excellent program. Here's a straightforward approach to installing the program. Reasons follow after.
That explains the problems that I ran into:-) Thanx for digging this up:-)
2. Copy all downloaded files GUI0x.GZ to directory as gui0x (small letters, no extension).
hehe, actually, it worked pretty good via symbolic links too:-) That's what I did here, I left the original files in the original directory, then just created symbolic links to the files in the install directory (without the .gz extension as per the file "names"). Also, it worked out great running the install program via xFree:-) The only hitch I found was that linux.corel.com cannot be found on the internet? Anyone know why?
4. run ./Runme. When it asked have you unzips and untarred all programs, answer y for yes.
5. Program will then install.
6. Choose another directory to house program (something like /usr/local/wp).
7. If you're using magicfilter and ghostscript, choose a postscript printer like NEC colormate P.S. Then when wordperfect is up and running, go to print, select and edit the driver. Edit the destination where Word perfect reads your printcap. Pick either lp, or whatever, for your lpr options.
The hitch I ran into on that is that I'm running a epson 800+ on my linux box, and the printers listed by the wp install program does not show anything that even comes close, so I had to select the ascii printer, (How that will work with formatted documents?
8. The executable file will be in "directory/wpbin/xwp." (E.g. run wordperfect by entering /usr/local/wp/wpbin/xwp & ).
Does it run from the Text window too? The GUI looked pretty close to version 6 for dos? Doesn't even come close to version 7 for Win95?
9. Delete your first "empty" (not so empty) directory.
