I have a text document Under Konqueror, if I try to start it with kwrite - all OK. GUI window + icons + text gvim, evim - GUI windows with the vim icon in op left corner. nothing inside the window frame, no control icons, no text. Frame does no respond to "close"
From the command line Nothing happens with {eg}vim and a file parameter Ctrl-C gives ICE default IO error handler doing an exit(), pid = 32497, errno = 4
However they DO start OK as root. So, I checked ~/.vimrc Root has no ~/.vimrc I blew away my own ~/.vimrc and ~/.vim/ No change. Delete and reinstall. No change. But wait! I now try "evim -D" and it tells me (as it does with gvim) Entering Debug mode. Type "cont" to continue. /usr/share/vim/vim72/evim.vim line 6: set nocompatible
ARGH! When will this end? After typing "cont" I see nothing. Try again with 'step'. Tedious but get no indication of the problem. I don't have a clue how to debug any further. So I don't know if this is a bug, a configuration issue, or a mismatch between modules. -- Vizzini: INCONCEIVABLE! Inigo: You keep using that word.
