If you're talking about deleted files, thn there is a chance of recovering some of the files, as long as the inodes haven't been written over. I had a similar problem a few months ago, and there were a few mails on this list about it (although I can't remember the subject line). If you want I can give you a whole heap of documentation and programs which I collected to fix my problem. Just let me know.
