So, do we just set up a repository in Yast and install from that? I also much prefer KDE3 and find that KDE4 & plasma is not ready for prime time. With 15.0, I find I have to frequently restart plasma, to get things working properly again.
Yes, When you install kdegraphics-pdf and it complains nothing provide pdftools_any, just ignore it and choose option 2 [ ] break. kpdf will work fine, that is a stray dependency issue that has popped up (there is no pdftools_any package at all, anywhere). I just added the repo as a normal repo, then go to "Patterns" in Yast and select KDE3. (you can also just filter by Repositories and select what you want from the repo it self, but I generally cross-check with the "Pattern" to make sure I haven't missed anything like kdebase3-session or kdebase3-workspace, etc... I set it up within fluxbox. It took about 10 minutes. Then exited fluxbox, check the lighdm list of desktop sessions, and chose KDE3 and presto -- up and running.
