I hate to break this to you, Paul, but if you recompiled your kernel just for es1371 support, modularly or otherwise, you wasted your time :). Messages like the above say one of two things to me; 1) The module has loaded without your knowledge (lsmod will show you this). 2) You don't actually have an es1371 card installed (lspci will verify this).
