Hello all, I see on the support DB that lilo can't boot linux from a udma66 hard drive controller. My question is, are the disk geometries only messed up at boot time, or are they shot even after booting? If I boot from a floppy, will I still have problems? (I am still gathering the final pieces of my new machine - will be assembling it in a couple of weeks. Will be running Suse 6.3 on an Athon 700 with a 13.6Gb IBM Deskstar 7200 rpm drive and a VIA KX133 motherboard supporting udma-66)
I boot with a floppy with the kernel (make bzdisk) from a WD UDMA66 20 Gig drive with no problems....now. Getting to this point was a different story. I do not recall all the incantations I went through to get the OS on the drive and then enabling UDMA. I am also running a SMP system which adds to the complications.
