Hello list,
I have a server currently running SLES 8 on a 2.4 kernel. I'd like to upgrade to SLES 9, however due to some kernel modules (Tivoli) I can't use kernels above 2.4.19-340. Can anyone confirm if you are able to install the 2.4 series (YaST?), and does SLES 9 operate happily on it?
Don't do that. It wouldn't be SLES9 any longer, but your own custom distro, for which you wouldn't get any suport. And technically, NO it wouldn't work. The init scripts are different. Stay with SLES8 or wait for Tivoli to update for kernel 2.6.
