I just downloaded and re-compiled the new 2.0.36 kernel. Everything went ok but when I booted the system I get a number of modprobe messages. I believe they are for old modules that I didn't load as modules this time around. For instance, I get one about not finding an ide character device. That one came from mistakenly selecting a wrong item in my first try (I have SCSI not ide in this box). The rest are about not finding the "dummy" network device. This kernel calls it loopback now. How do I get rid of these messages???
