I have managed to get cxmame to work (with xmame.SDL), but I figured if I managed to get the svgalib RPM, then I could get advancemenu working, because it looks so neat, but I will try your program in a minute.
Let me know if you run into any trouble. :) It's a first release you got there, but it's meant to be used for an Arcade Machine, so it might be usable to you.
The box is only a pentium 133 so I expect it will crawl running any of the games, but it will creep if I run it under X.
Actually, my best performance sofar is using it under X with DGA. How fast games will work on a Pentium 133 I cannot say. Slowest I've tried is a 400 MHz Celeron.
I take it you haven't managed to get the SVGALIB RPM then and compiling from source is a non-starter?
I haven't been able to find the RPM, but compiling from scratch didn't work. From what I Googled I wasn't the first to encounter this problem, but somewhere there's an RPM that works.
What is the scale2x option and how would you pass this into xmame?
http://scale2x.sourceforge.net/, to be used with xmame by using the -ef 1 option. It might not be for you though, for it does take a bit of processing power, but the results are beautiful. Regards, Pieter Hulshoff
