No pause character in modem dial string

I'm attempting to set up my modem via YaST2. All works well until I try to enter a comma in the dial-string ie:9,xxxxxx It seems YaST2 will not accept a comma in the dial string. Anyone know of a circumvention ? TIA Gary Ernst
