You are probably very right... All of this doesn't bode well for linux in general when even the most fanatical of users and being turned off by the problems. Hopefully linux doesn't die a slow death due to its success. I am reminded of the saying: "the operation was a success (removal of non-gpl code) but the patient died (linux)".
