IP multicast packets are just like IP packets but with a destination IP address in the multicast range (224.0.0.0 - 239.255.255.255). The same maximum size applies as for other IP addresses. Packets larger than the MTU value for any interface over which the packets must travel will be fragmented by the IP stack with the smaller MTU interface (unless "Do not fragment" is set in the IP header).
