[SuSE Linux] KDM Config

I have been trying to set up the KDM login screen. My KDE menue offers the variables for the Desktop and it looks every time like I have successfully changed it, but I always get the same old XDM login screen. I had this working once before (previous installation) and can't see why it is failing now. This is true on both of my boxes. Help?
