**** I wish a SuSE honcho would either confirm that there's a Canadian distribution conflict of some kind (and say what's being done to resolve it), or tell us who the approved regional distributor is, so we can tell our favorite local stores who to call.
Not that I'm a honcho, but Futureshop was supposed to have 8.0 the same day it was available in the US...it was announced several times here and in the 8.0 announcement. Why they still claim they don't have it I don't know. The last time this came up right after the release of 8.0 I got confirmation that they were shipped 8.0 (although about a week later than was planned); I have no idea why they aren't selling it but I've been forwarding all of the complaints from would-be Canadian customers to the channel sales manager. Feel free to contact him directly: mkimball@suse.com.
Preferrably, get it fixed before 8.1, wouldja, so I can buy off the shelf? Oh, and fix SuSE compatibility with my DVD drive *before* I buy the next upgrade. ;->
If you're referring to http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/wessels_pioneerdvd.html it seems that in most cases it's caused by buggy hardware. Some of the Pioneer drives have firmware updates that fix the problem. -- -ckm
