So what happens when you do Appearances and Themes / Background? Do you get a blank window, as I did on this machine? (On another machine, I get the correct window contents.)
using the tray icon menus, YES, I get a blank ( grey not black) window. and now when I try to use the green-start button control panel, the little hourglass spins, and....goes away.
So I'm not the only one to get that blank window! Interesting that I don't get it on my other machine. Also, I don't get the blank window if I go directly to Control Center instead of using the taskbar mini-app. Anyone else see this (in KDE 3.5)? Or have a suggestion as to what to do about it? My guess is that the code for the mini-app rather than the code for the Control Center itself is at fault. I've tried reinstalling kdebase, which supposedly includes that code, and it makes no difference. Paul
