My limited experience with staroffice and KDE3 on SuSE is that the inter-connections between staroffice60 and KDE3 on SuSE sux. With SuSE 7.3 and KDE2, staroffice60 integrated very well. With SuSE 8 and KDE3 the integration with staroffice appears to be non-existent. The staroffice menu that works so well in KDE2 is no where to be seen in SuSE 8 - KDE3. KDE3 does not show file associations for staroffice60 ie: vnd.sun.xml.writer vnd.sun.xml.calc vnd,sun.xml.impress, etc. I spent a stupid amount of time on this issue last weekend before I went to the Sun website for the Staroffice60 mailing list. The common complaint from SuSE 8 users was that there was no menu list added after Staroffice 6 was loaded. This is a problem with staroffice60, SuSE 8 and KDE3. It is a non-issue with SuSE 7.3 using KDE2 and it is not a problem in SuSE 8 if you use gnome 1.4. Using gnome with SuSE 8 the staroffice menu shows up in "favorites" and all the staroffice associations appear in the gnomecc. This actually works out to be useful for KDE. Using Konqueror go to "~/.gnome/apps/" and you will find the staroffice menu that is used by gnome. Copy it and use in KDE3. -- Ralph Sanford - If your government does not trust you, rsanford@telusplanet.net - should you trust your government? GPG/PGP ID - 0x7A1BEA01
