[opensuse] New ATI driver, KDE 4 desktop effects

Okay, so I downloaded and installed AMD's new ATI driver, 9.1 for Linux (x86_64). My ATI Radeon X600 still doesn't provide me with desktop effects on KDE 4.1. I'm curious if any of you have tried this new driver and if it has worked for you. When I try to enable the settings, KDE immediately tells me it cannot apply them.
