I have just reinstalled my main server system, and have grave problems installing the printer. It is a HP 930C connected to the LAN through a D-Link DP-101 printserver (plugged onto the printer itself).
I remember that my first SuSE Linux 7.3 installation on this system also gave me problems in this area, but somehow I got over them. Now I have struggled for a couple of days, and that is somewhat more than I expect to use for a "simple" job as setting up a printer.
The printer and the printserver work, which can be confirmed by printing from other nodes on the LAN. Furthermore, when I try setting up the printer through YaST2 the test pages - both color and text - print out just fine. When I get around to use the printer after the setup, nothing happens.
Are you using CUPS, lprold, LPRNG, or what?
Sorry - I am using LPRng, but I have tried with CUPS also, still setting up with YaST2. The results were the same. Best regards, David List
