Hi folks,
I am looking for a way to guarantee data integrity on my Linux box (11.4).
BTRS does not seem to have anything for that.
ZFS is only recently available natively (i.e. Without FUSE) on Linux. That port by KQStor is not built on opensuse. Has anyone tried to port it to opensuse?
I am looking to protect against silent bit rot. I am looking for file or partition level protection.
How about sector level? The kernel got support for that about 3 years ago: http://lxr.linux.no/#linux+v2.6.38/Documentation/block/data-integrity.txt I don't know how to utilize it or what specific hardware you need to have to support it. (I do know the disk drive / raid array has to support the Data Integrity extensions, but again I don't know how common / rare that is.)
