Dunno, but try to ignore the autodetection and add the printer anyway. That's what I did with mine in the past, it was never detected.
In the meantime I found the reason. The lp module is not loaded at boot time therefore YaST can not detect the printer. It's discussed in opensuse forum. This is the first SUSE/openSUSE release which could not detect a parallel printer. IMHO such a change should have been mentioned in the release notes at least.
