michael, I also recently purchased/installed office99... as a previous user of applix, I was looking to dump ms office, but wasn't impressed with the hard linkage of applix and SuSE install... I have just loaded it, and not on my desktop, so I haven't had time to play with it yet... anyone else have comments on office99? dc ---------- From: mperry@basin.com To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: [SuSE Linux] Office99 - comments Date: Sunday, November 15, 1998 2:31AM I received Office99 which includes a whole bunch of stuff that I ended up playing with all nite. This is a nice combination of stuff like SuSEfax which has a really nice interface and I managed to get hylafax to work somehow. That is one thing I have not ever been able to accomplish in the past. I also installed the applix 4.4.1 and imported a few excel97 spreadsheets with the wizard interface. Thats kind of neat. I remembered more errors and breakdowns before with importing large or complex spreadsheets. I also installed the personal adabas version 10. Does anyone use applix 4.4.1 and its data app to connect to adabas personal version 10 databases? Any pointers on doing this? I am nowhere close to being a adabas whiz. I have tried setting up a few things and using some simpler sql commands when I manage to set a database up correctly. I would like to use the applix data tool to attach to a somewhat larger database I would like to convert over from access97 to adabas. The database is a procurement management tool which I built under access. Its a good test and learning tool for me. It would be nice to run queries using the applix data tool Any help or pointers on very basic adabas database building strategies would be appreciated. One small comment - Purchasing the office99 along with suse 5.3 nets me two suse manuals. Would not one suffice? -- Michael Perry mperry@basin.com ------------------ - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
