Hi,
I was happily creating some directories and deleting others in mc, when suddenly the system wen bonkers. mc froze. I saw in the log that disk access was lost, so I halted, powered off and on, and booted. The first thing in the log is this:

What on earth is a 'thumbailer'?
Irrelevant. Was there just to add some context, that the machine was working a minute before.

Then there seemed to be a hardware error on ata10
Yes, I get that, but what?
Then XFS had problems reading sdc
Consequence of the former.
The rest was TL;DR but presumably you didn't find a hardware problem. I didn't notice any xfs_repair -n output?
On the next reboot, on automatics. I did not do a manual check. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R.
