I own a Netbook based on an AMD Kabini chip, and I have installed openSUSE 13.2 on it. In general it runs great, but lately the KDE desktop has "lost" the ability to use OpenGL. Symptoms are sluggish graphics and rendering errors in window decorations. The deterioration is reproducible. After a fresh install (and I have done a couple), desktop effects are great. After a while, it loses the ability to do OpenGL compositing. I suspect it is caused by some package update. A) Right after installation: 1. Compositing type and Qt graphics system for desktop effects are "OpenGL 2.0" and "raster", respectively. 2. In KInfoCenter, in the OpenGL information module, it shows: -Vendor: X.Org -Renderer: Gallium 0.4 on AMD KABINI B) After a while, when OpenGL is no longer used, I get: 1. Compositing type and Qt graphics system for desktop effects are "Xrender" and "native", respectively. Attempts to switch to OpenGL compositing fails, it always reverts to Xrender. 2. In KInfoCenter, in the OpenGL information module, it shows: -Vendor: VMware, Inc. -Rendered: Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.5, 128 bits) Does anyone have an idea what can cause this behaviour? Should I raise a bug report about this? Is there something I can do to work around it?
