Right-click the icon in the systray (the one that says suse hardware tool, looks like a PCI card) and select 'Configure'. There you can set which programs to start, and if you uncheck the 'Autostart' checkbox, it won't be started at all.
That did it -- many thanks, Anders. But how could I have found that out if you hadn't told me? Are there any user-level docs on suseplugger? By the way, I think that the K3B startup happened by default -- I've seen it on two different SuSE 9.1 systems. Paul
