Ok, I'm frustrated again. I looked on the ALSA site http://www.alsa-project.org/+AH4-goemon/ ] and the matrix indicates my SB AWE 64 Gold should be supported. Neither YAST2 nor alsaconf detects the card. pnpdump finds it just fine. My /etc/modules.conf lookst like this: ________________________________________________________ #***************************************************************************** # Example config for ALSA (for SB16 PnP - like cards) # You don't need to run isapnp with ALSA, it has full PnP support. # See /usr/doc/packages/alsa/README.SuSE #***************************************************************************** # #ALSA native device support: # alias char-major-116 snd options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1 # #Insert your sound driver name here, and it you have a PCI or PnP card, #you are ready to do "rcsalsactl start": # alias snd-card-0 snd-card-sbawe options snd-card-sbawe +AFw- snd_index=0 +AFw- snd_port=0x220 +AFw- snd_mpu_port=0x330 +AFw- snd_awe_port=0x388 +AFw- snd_irq=5 +AFw- snd_dma8=0 +AFw- snd_dma16=5 +AFw- snd_isapnp=1 +AFw- snd_dma8_size=2 +AFw- snd_dma16_size=4 +AFw- snd_mic_agc=1 +AFw- snd_csp=0 _______________________________________________________________ My /lib/modules/2.2.14/modules.dep has this for the sbawe: ________________________________________________________________ /lib/modules/2.2.14/misc/snd-card-sbawe.o: /lib/modules/2.2.14/misc/isapnp. o +AFw- /lib/modules/2.2.14/misc/snd-seq-device.o /lib/modules/2.2.14/misc/snd.o /lib/modules/2.2.14/misc/snd-sb16-dsp.o
