* Valter Rehn (valter@panvel.com.br) [020419 11:58]:
the problem is: nobody logs in the new server. trid to change my password and I logged in. i've noticed that the passwords in /etc/shadow have the $ sign, and my new doesn't.
does anyone know how to use the old shadow file without having to change everyuser password?
Redhat uses md5 passwds by default. We don't because it breaks too many things. See /usr/share/doc/packages/pam/README.md5 for details but you should only have to change /etc/pam.d/passwd: password required /lib/security/pam_pwcheck.so nullok md5 password required /lib/security/pam_unix.so \ nullok md5 use_first_pass use_authtok -- -ckm
